From Day One, our dream was to create hotels that captured the spirit of the city and shared it with everyone who visits us. Hotels designed as meeting points between design, comfort and the essence of the real city.
History
It all started with a shared dream: to create hotels that would serve as a meeting point between comfort, design and the city’s true spirit.
In 1992, as Barcelona was preparing to open up to the world as host of the Olympic Games, we took our first step with Onix Fira, next to Plaça Espanya and Joan Miró Park. We wanted to offer a modern, functional haven just steps from Montjuïc and the Fira, in the heart of a city that was transforming.
By the late nineties, the project grew with Onix Rambla. In the heart of the Eixample, we restored a modernist building from the early 19th century that had once been the headquarters of Banco Popular. A place with history which, during the Spanish Civil War, was an illegal casino and a warehouse for tobacco and chocolate. In 2003, after three years of hard work, we reopened its doors so travellers could experience Barcelona from within.
In 2007, Onix Liceo arrived, in the Old Town. We transformed the old police station into a unique hotel, where architecture and memory blend with our signature hospitality. A building with a listed façade, courtyard and staircase that’s now the perfect starting point to discover the city’s most diverse side.
